FAQ

If you have a question about the Telstra Business Women's Awards you might be able to find the answer here.

What would you like to know about?

The Awards Process

  • I have been nominated by more than one person. Does that better my chances of winning?

The number of times you have been nominated does not influence the judging process. You only need to submit one entry regardless of how many times you have been nominated.

  • Who will judge my entry?

Judges are selected from a pool of local and national business people by an independent organisation. All judges must sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure that your entry submission and details about you and your business will not be disclosed to anyone outside the judging process. Your entry will be treated with the strictest confidence at all times.

  • What are the judges looking for?

A detailed set of judging guidelines is used to help judges assess your entry. Judges are looking for concise, relevant and informative answers specific to the question.

Please limit your answers to the word limit provided at the top of each question. All questions are designed to help convey your philosophies and practices. It is important to address all elements that have lead to your success; how you have achieved success to date, as well as your plans and vision for the future.

There is rarely one single element that sets winners apart; however in the past, the judges have commented that many of the winners have displayed the following common characteristics:

    • Passion and commitment to their chosen fields of endeavour
    • Demonstration of leadership
    • Proven business successes
    • Ability to act as positive role models for both men and women
    • Vision, integrity, self-awareness and a balanced approach
    • High energy, coupled with personal discipline, organisation and focus
    • Dedication to interests outside usual business commitments, such as supporting charities and the community
    • Mentoring abilities and practices
  • Can I get my entry submission back after judging?

When you submit your entry online, you will be given an option to download a copy of your entry upon completion. Submissions printed for the judging process will be securely destroyed at the end of the program and therefore cannot be returned.

  • Do I need to do anything else after submitting my entry?

Yes, if you are short-listed you will be required to attend an interview in your capital city.

  • Can I get any feedback about my entry submission?

No, judges cannot give individual feedback.

  • Is there a reminder I can download to help me remember to submit my entry?

You can download a reminder about the close of entries here. An event will be added to your calendar at the Close of Entries (20 June 2011 at midnight AEST), and a reminder alarm has been set for approx. 1 week from the close of entries.
