Overall Queensland Winner

Catherine O'Sullivan

Catherine O'Sullivan is Principal of Goondiwindi State High School and the current Waggamba Shire Council Citizen of the Year. She has worked on numerous committees advising on rural and educational issues. Catherine was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study overseas and recently received an Australian Rural Leadership Foundation Scholarship to participate in a two year leadership training program.

Business Owner Award

Debbie Giudes

As Owner and Manager of The Giudes Family Group, Debbie Giudes oversees 50 staff working in nine travel agencies in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane. Despite the downturn in the travel industry, Debbie's company has experienced a 30 per cent increase in sales this year - a result she attributes to motivating her professional team of staff.

Private and Corporate Sector Award

Jill Lange-Mohr

Jill Lange-Mohr is Principal of Martin College. More than 4,500 students from over 60 countries graduate each year from the college in courses ranging from marketing to secretarial, IT, travel and tourism and graphic design. The college's Australian graduates record a remarkable 99 per cent job placement rate. Jill's achievements include overseeing the college's expansion program to establish campuses outside Brisbane.

Aretha Garlick

Aretha Garlick is Managing Director of Queensland's largest home builder, Tamawood Homes. Among Aretha's achievements include the successful listing of Tamawood on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2000 and a consolidation of the company's market leadership with an 11 per cent share of the market, following the post GST market slump.
