Deborah Kilroy formed Sisters Inside Inc in 1992, a not-for-profit community organisation that challenges the injustices that impact on women in prison, their children and families. In 2000, Deborah was seconded to East Timor to train community workers in sexual assault counseling. She was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2003 for her work with women in prison and her contribution to the community.
