2006 Telstra Tasmanian Business Woman of the Year
Kim Macgowan
Kim Macgowan is the CEO of Hobart District Nursing Service Inc, Australia's second oldest nursing service. As CEO, Kim has helped increase the cash reserves of Hobart District Nursing Service by 200%, allowing for a purchase of new premises. She also recently developed and implemented The District Night Nurse, an on-call service which provides expert back-up to enrolled nurses on night duty at nursing homes. Prior to her appointment in 2001, Kim was heavily involved in the Kosovo Refugee Project where she developed policy and procedures for the refugee camp.

Chantal Williams
Chantal Williams is the CEO of Stepping Stones Children's Services. Chantal established the business in 1996 in response to high demand for quality child care. Stepping Stones Children's Services began with six staff and six clients, and now operates 20 services across Australia, employs 55 permanent staff and offers care for up to 640 children per day. The business became a registered training organisation in 2004. Chantal contributed to sending educational aid to schools in Fiji, and has recently been awarded her Masters in Education.

Diane Rae
Diane Rae is the Director and Owner of Grandvewe Cheeses Pty Ltd, an organic sheep dairy and cheesery in southern Tasmania. Previously a financial planner, Diane is now responsible for producing three tonnes of cheese annually, and her business is one of only four sheep cheese manufacturers in Australia. Grandvewe Cheeses has become a popular tourism destination, and Diane is keen to establish Tasmania as the centre of Australia's sheep dairy industry through further expansion into local and national markets

Melanie Kerrison
Melanie Kerrison is a Manager at Launceston law firm Rae & Partners Lawyers, where she practices principally in the area of commercial law and conveyancing. Joining the firm in 2000, Melanie was promoted to partner in 2004 - the first female to be awarded this opportunity by her firm. Melanie is also one of the youngest practitioners in Tasmania to become a partner. Since her arrival at Rae & Partners Lawyers, she has improved financial management systems and efficiency as well as strengthening staff mentoring programs.
