The Telstra Business Women's Awards has six categories that champion women across a broad spectrum of businesses in Australia and Asia.
The Australian Award categories are:
Open to owners with a 25 percent share or more, who are fully engaged and active in day-to-day running and decision-making in a business they’ve been operating for a minimum of one year.
For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award
Open to owners or employees of organisations that deliver positive social/environmental change as their core mission. Includes not-for-profit and social ventures.
Public Sector and Academia Award
Open to employees of government departments, educational institutions and statutory bodies.
Corporate and Private Award
Open to employees in the private and corporate sectors, including corporate leaders and owners with less than a 25 percent share in a business.
Young Business Women's Award
Entrants in any of the qualifying categories who are aged 29 years or under as at close of entries, are automatically eligible for this category.
Winners from all categories, excluding the Young Business Women’s category, are eligible to win the overall Telstra Business Woman of the Year for their State/Territory.
State/Territory category winners then go on to the National event where they are eligible to win the National Award for their respective category. One of the National category winners (except for the Young Business Women's Award category winner) will then be announced as the Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year.
The Asia Award category: Business Woman in Asia Award
Open to residents of Asia (see list of eligible countries here) who are:
- Employees in the private and corporate sectors.
- Entrepreneurs with a 25 percent share or more, who are fully engaged and active in day-to-day running and decision-making in a business they’ve been operating for a minimum of two years.

I’m focused on trying to create some collaboration within the rural and agri sector and I think the Award will give me a great platform and lift that profile.
